Therapeutic Style

My therapeutic style has a natural, conversational quality, where you can talk and go back and forth in a way that feels genuine and organic. I offer a non-judgemental space where you can feel safe to be yourself, and explore what’s going on for you in your life. You can expect a warm, accepting atmosphere, where you will be seen and treated with respect, care and dignity at all times. I firmly believe in the inherent worth and potential of each person and prioritise empathy, and genuineness in the therapeutic relationship. I see my clients as experts in their own lives and work collaboratively with them to uncover their inner wisdom and resources.

I have worked with different clients on a variety of issues, and as a result my style is flexible and deeply attuned to reflect the uniqueness of each persons’ experiences and needs. I focus on meeting people where they are, and supporting them in self-understanding, processing difficult experiences, and developing emotional resilience in a way that feels right for them. When I review my work with my clients, they consistently describe my approach as empathetic, supportive, and empowering, appreciating the safe space for exploration and growth. They report feeling deeply heard and held, and find the way I blend empathy with responsive, impactful interventions particularly beneficial. I hold your right to autonomy and integrity in high regard, as well as your ability to define yourself, so whilst I do offer my insights and observations, I see you as the ultimate expert on yourself and your life. I welcome clients from all walks of life and backgrounds, offering a non-judgmental and inclusive approach to our work together.

I am a neurodiversity affirmative practitioner and offer support to Autistic and ADHD clients in ways that are suited to their needs and processing style. I work with each neurodivergent person to find what is best suited for them, embracing their unique experiences and goals. I have experience working with burnout, discrimination, rejection sensitivity and demand avoidance, late diagnosis, self-identified, diagnosed and supporting clients through the process of diagnosis, as well as trauma and issues around shame and self-esteem.

As a Humanistic Psychotherapeutic Counsellor, I integrate three modalities: Person-Centered, Gestalt and Transactional Analysis. The core of my approach is a Person-Centered commitment to always place you are the centre of our work together; to seeing you with positive regard and empathy, and holding a trajectory rooted in your authenticity and wellbeing. Depending on your needs and preferences, we may lean into a more creative or structured approach (or a mix of both!). Gestalt therapy allows us to focus deeply on the present moment and explore what’s happening with curiosity and creative experimentation. This can include acting or role-play, drawing, visualisation, or play if you’re up for it. Some of my clients have found this to be a surprisingly powerful way to unlock things that have been a source of stuckness and frustration for a long time. Other clients feel this is not their cup of tea at all, and instead enjoy a more structured approach that uses Transactional Analysis theory. Here we can explore different parts of them and their relationship patterns, using visual models and concepts that help to develop a deeper understanding of their experiences. This awareness can lead to being able to make better choices and make changes that feel more authentic and fulfilling. I integrate these approaches as well as equipping you with helpful coping strategies that you can employ in your life, using embodied awareness, breath and methods tailored to your needs to help you manage day-to-day. I have additional experience and/or training on working with anxiety, depression, trauma, autism, ADHD, bereavement and loss, domestic abuse, disability, shame, intense self-criticism, and difficult relational patterns. I offer both short and long-term therapy, depending on your personal circumstances and needs.

Whilst no therapy can offer magical solutions to all of life’s problems, with time it can provide resolution to things that would otherwise cause us years of pain and suffering. When we face things we cannot change, therapy can help us find ways to relate differently to those issues, finding more peace, positivity and contentment. I have worked with clients to help empower them to find new ways forward that feel healthy, fulfilling and authentic for them. Whilst the journey of therapy can at times be challenging, I have found it deeply enriching and worthwhile, both as a client and a therapist. I don’t claim to have all the answers, but I’m committed to walking alongside you, offering support and insights that can empower you to find your own.
